Stormy politics, deep passions, personal betrayal, leadership and mercy are the core of Mozart’s last grand opera (1791), composed within days of the Magic Flute, and containing some of his most gloriously ‘classical’ music. Writer Charlotte Stoudt’s edgy and elegant update reflects on the strain our demands for perfection put on our public figures, as we watch personal drama become public crisis, complete with assassination attempts and public riots.
The Amazing Cast: Nephi Sanchez as Tito, Daniele Lorio as Vitellia, Madelyn Wanner as Sesto, Anastasia Robinson as Annia, Laura Wehrmeyer as Servilia, Scott Thomas as Publio, with ensemble members Christine Browne-Munz, Ashley Dannewitz, Adriana Gonzalez, Shaina Martinez, Russell Silber, Jase Parker, Aaron Pendola and Sean Pflueger.
