It’s astonishing to me that another season for your IN Series is wrapping up. So much has happened in the past 12 months! When we embarked on our 25/26 Illicit Season that celebrated the power of art, of music, of theater to be dangerous – to speak truth, to challenge power, to inspire change – with a slate of works all originally banned when they were written, we never
could have known how increasingly resonate and important that work would become. I always say that one of the privileges of being a small arts organization is that we GET to be fearless, to be intrepid, to be bold and brave. That privilege carries with it a responsibility at moments like these, and I’m so proud of the work we continue to do. I’m also deeply grateful for the faith and support you give that makes possible our courage and commitment to hope. Thank you.
I’m so hopeful that this past year you got to witness Marc Blitzstein’s rarely heard CRADLE WILL ROCK, our own-of-a-kind circus version of Verdi’s RIGOLETTO, the final completion of our Monteverdi trilogy with POPPEA, or the World Premiere after 90 years of ETHIOPIA. As we enter the fallow period when one season is accomplished and we eagerly look towards the joy of starting the next, IN Series reaches out to our friends and family to ask for help gathering resources to launch a new year. Your donation will lay the foundation for the groundbreaking work which continues next season with 9 premieres in 12 months! We look forward to a season that holds the promise of a new permanent home for our organization, an expansion of programming, engagements of hundreds of local artists, and unique work unlike anything else in the world, all right here at home.
The best way to support our work is to show up, to take in the art, to subscribe to the season, but ticket sales only cover a fraction of production costs. You already have shown much love for our organization, and a deep commitment to our success, particularly in recent months. Today, I’m writing to humbly ask that as you are able, you consider a gift to IN Series during this annual campaign. Through a generous initiative, ALL gifts made this Summer are matched and doubled.
