Casting Notice, 2022-23 Season - Dancers

Seeking strong, versatile and charismatic male-identifying, transmasculine, or non-binary contemporary dancers, with excellent technique, improvisation experience, strength, flexibility, endowed with charisma and strong performance qualities. Dancers with strong floor technique and/or experience in breakdancing/b-boy styles are encouraged to submit. Must be open to new movement ideas, especially learning movement from Asian dance traditions.

IN Series presents THE MONTEVERDI TRILOGY: IN Series opens the 2022-2023 season  with a month-long festival of art and culture, structured around productions of three operas by Claudio Monteverdi - The Coronation of Poppea, The Return of Ulysses, and The Night Song of Orpheus - each in a different style of Asian dance/theater. The operas will play in repertory throughout the month of September, and Saturdays will be a dawn-to-dusk piece of epic theater, all three pieces presented in a row with meals served in between. 

Please note: Dancers are being cast for The Coronation of Poppea and The Return of Ulysses. Dancers that are cast will dance in both of these pieces, but will not appear in The Night Song of Orpheus.

What to Expect - group audition:

The group audition will be held November 20 on Zoom. If you receive an invitation to audition, you will be sent a 2-3 minute combination to prepare and present as part of the session; additionally, a combination of technique and choreography will be taught and evaluated during the session. Following the group audition, finalists will be invited to interview with Hari Krishnan and Jitti Chompee; these interviews will take place during the week of November 21.


Candidates invited to the November 20 callback will be offered a $100 honorarium for their time, regardless of eventual casting decisions.

PLEASE NOTE: Those applying are expected to be fully available during the rehearsal and performance period.All rehearsals and performances will take place in Washington, DC; travel and housing are not provided as part of the contract.
