This year’s gala is an especially meaningful celebration of the artists, leaders, and visionaries shaping the future of opera. We are honored to present the Denyce Graves Award to Marc Scorca, the longtime President of OPERA America, whose decades of visionary leadership have profoundly shaped the American opera field. Often described as its “unsung hero,” Marc’s impact spans generations of artists, institutions, and audiences across the country. We will also celebrate the incomparable Denyce Graves herself, honoring her legendary career as she retires from the operatic stage and continues her deeply impactful work mentoring and uplifting the next generation of performers. In addition, IN Series is proud to present our first-ever Community Leadership Award to Melissa Warlow, whose more than 30 years leading the Baker Fund of the Baltimore Community Foundation helped build a thriving, artist-centered ecosystem—one that has made it possible for IN Series to grow and flourish across both Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.
